These are magnificent pieces, one and all. A number of them would look good on my walls. :-)
The rose is an ancient symbol of love and beauty...and still is today. Such an enduring symbol.
One of my favorite phrases is "sub rosa." In ancient Rome, if a wild rose was placed over the door of a room, then everything said in the room would be considered secret. Thus, sub rosa (under the rose) came to mean "keep secret."
Loved this... my favorite is the painting by Henry Siddons Mowbray. I'd never heard of him, so looked up his work. Just beautiful! Thank you for sharing this.
