Orchards

Anyone who has a garden, park or orchard tree has an opportunity to ensure that it offers protection, brings beauty and bears fruit for future generations. In short, every one of us should aspire to be a forester.
~Gabriel Hemery

Today's topic was prompted by a mention of the orangerie at Versailles. I was intrigued by the word "orangerie" -- it's actually a building for housing citrus trees in winter (a specialized greenhouse), but I started thinking about fruit groves, and here we are with orchards:

Definitely thinking about gardens this time of year...planting seeds and young plants and preparing our grape arbor, so this is a very fitting Art Thursday.

Those cherries look wonderful and I can feel the peaches coming. :-)

Did a double-take when I saw Verger au Printemps (An Orchard in Spring) by Verheyden. Amazing painting.

What wonderfully nostalgic images for me. Here in the Rogue Valley of Oregon we are famous for our peach orchards. My husband even lived with a family for a time, helping to tend their orchards. They are gorgeous when in bloom!

My favorite is the photo of the cherries... now I am drooling for cherries, ha ha.

These photos are beautiful, Tabatha! I love the peach orchards near my SC house when they bloom each spring. My grandparents had an old plum orchard in their pasture that I used to play in when I was little. It was magical!
