I didn't know about the tongue either -- it looks like it has stuff on it. When I looked it up, I read that the tongue symbolizes a knife waiting for sacrifice. So maybe you didn't want to know!
A very calendar theme lately. There are some similarities with gargoyles and the Aztec gods. Yes? Maybe it's just me. Now I want to write a story about gargoyles.
