A poem from Muzzle Magazine to welcome autumn. It's also a poem to inspire you to think outside the box with your imagery!
All those gold leaves
by Anis Mojgani
My piano coat unbuttoned
and all my pianos fell into the leaves.
I was picking up pianos for hours
when you walked past
your skin glowed like a loud dog.
In your smile this dog had a fence

Muzzle! What a deep new resource, dear Tabatha.
Appreciations for leading me to it. I especially enjoyed looking at the mini-bios of all the brainy young readers for this poetry publication. And of course thanks for the bridge to this clever poet, new-to-me. So much to learn, so much to explore!
Yes, my imagination takes a leap with those 'pianos', Tabatha. Thanks for leading me to Muzzle, also, a new magazine to explore! Happy Friday!
Tabatha, thanks for sharing the new magazine that highlights poetry. The video poem is a wonderful example of spoken word. I enjoyed Anis' work.
My head is full of those pianos falling out of the unbuttoned piano coat.
Wow! I am grateful for this introduction to Anis Mojgani. Come Closer is stunning. I'm thinking of putting this line up on my wall. "What beautiful battlefields you are."
Anis' reciting "Come Closer" is intoxicating, thanks for introducing me to his poems, and to Muzzle!
Thanks, Tabatha, for sharing this. I love the image of pianos falling into fall leaves! While these poems don't really resonate with me, I always enjoy being introduced to new ideas, art, and artists here.
This line makes me happy: "I was picking up pianos for hours."
:)
Thanks, Tabatha!
Oh, my goodness....such amazing and full of life lines. I love both poems. Thank you for sharing! I want more!
Tabatha, I couldn't get into the pianos in the leaves, but "Come Closer", oh my goodness!I love hearing Anis Mojgani perform that poem. "There is joy in how your mouth dances with your teeth." Thank you for introducing me to this poet. I want more!
"Come Closer" is wonderful, filled with so many wonderful lines and images. I, too, was struck by the line, "What beautiful battlefields you are," and it brought me back to recent reflections on viewing oneself as a victim or as a contender. Thanks for sharing Anis Mojgani's work today, Tabatha.
A new-to-me poet I definitely need to keep my eye on!
