Do Your Best Under the Circumstances
Sheree Fitch

There is no land of perfect, child.
There is no sea of ease.
There is no candy apple trail.
There’s broccoli and peas.

There is no suit of armour, child.

Stay strong and love again -- I'm gonna hang on that line all this week; cross our fingers (toes, arms, legs), and pray we see blue on 11/6!

Sadly, being human appears to have varied definitions, but this is a poem of hope, Tabatha! I am hopeful that good will remain! Thanks for the hope in the poem, too!

Needed to read that one today, Tabatha. Why is "being human human beings" so hard for some?

What a perfect poem about imperfect important things, my favorite part, "There’s only all of us trying, child/To be human human beings." Thanks for this poem Tabatha and for so many introductions to new poets, who I usually have to go and check out more on! xox

Tabatha, that is a warmhearted poem. I love the direct address to the child. Yes, to being more human. I pray we get to see the majority of our American values are not "misogyny, white supremacy, and fascism." It seems like it should be an easy decision. I hope the Iowa poll is a canary in the coal mine showing a bluetiful blast in our country!
