Taraxacum officinale

What we call a weed is in fact merely a plant growing where we do not want it.
~E.J. Salisbury

Or as Author Unknown said, "Man is the only critter who feels the need to label things as flowers or weeds." You can see a list of beneficial weeds here and read about uses for the subject of today's Art Thursday in particular here.

  1. I may be in the minority, but I adore dandelions! Everything about them. The name. The jaunty, hardy yellow flower. The funny, airy and temporal puff ball. Their hardiness in spite of attacks by those that label them intruding weeds. The leaves are even edible and healthy for you.

My husband, a photographer, has some gorgeous photos of the sun shining into the puffballs, making them glow.

And lastly: Joey, my girl Mini-Schnauzer, loves to pounce on the puffballs... and eat them!!
