I do things like get in a taxi and say, “The library, and step on it.”
~David Foster Wallace
Do you read multiple books at once? At the moment, I have an upstairs book and a downstairs book. Upstairs, I'm in the middle of Machine Man by Max Barry. My downstairs/take with me book is Quite A Year For Plums by Bailey White.
Those books are a pretty good summary of me (Southern geek, although I think of myself as more of a nerd). Do you stick to one book at a time?
P.S. I also have Adaptogens by David Winston close at hand for nonfiction reading.
Not me. I'm a one-at-a-time kind of gal. Which does, unfortunately, involve more stair climbing, because I'm always leaving it behind.

ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm a more-than-one-book-at-a-time guy, BUT it isn't exactly what you're talking about: I have a fiction book in my studio, a rock history book by the bed, and a couple of puzzle books in the living room for doing while watching sports.
Does that count? :-)
Love the David Foster Wallace quote.
ReplyDeleteI read one fiction book at a time, but multiple nonfiction ones. :)
I do this too, Tabatha. Right now, I have The Martian going (slow reading for me, though I know others loved it), and am reading several of the 2016 debut MG and YA novels (usually one at a time). My goal is to read at least a few poems today. The book I have open is a collection of Rumi's poetry --rereading.
