from an exhibit by Céleste Boursier-Mougenot

A little bit of nature for this Music Monday. A pair of songs inspired by birds:

~ xeno-canto, a community database of bird sounds from around the world
~ Two ways to learn bird songs
~ Bird Songs from PBS's The Life of Birds
~ A bird with a violin-like feather
~ birdsong projects at The Cornell Lab of Ornithology
~ A bio of composer Olivier Messiaen, who integrated bird songs into his music.
~ The Lark Ascending, from a previous post
~ Avian Classical Music
~ I used the nightingale song translator to make a birdsong version of "The Opposite of Indifference." I think of it more as a code than a translation, though, as I expect someone matched nightingale sounds with letters randomly, and there's no bird that would recognize it!
